Oreo Birthday Cake Limited Edition Cookies Giveaway

If you haven't read my posts before, my name is frugalite (a member of the FDR forum). I live an active frugal lifestyle by saving money through sales, coupons, finding great deals, taking advantage of price matches, clearance and scanning code of practice. I look for freebies and enter lots of contests. I am passionate about spending quality time with my family and friends. My group of friends all have kids and we gather frequently for birthday parties, play groups, sports games and practice.

Today the kids had a hockey game to play and I accidentally left the cooler items in the fridge at home. Not good...but my coupons are always in the vehicle, so it was FPC day! I stopped at the grocery store and redeemed 5 free product coupons: Kraft Amooza Cheese, Tropicana Trop50 Juice, Asana Yogurt, Nutella and Dempster's Bagels. I had a craving for a sweet snack and hit the cookie aisle! Oreo is my favourite cookie and the pretty gold package caught my eye! I picked up 1 package for me and 1 package to giveaway at my favourite place, Freebies Deals And Rewards!

I wanted to be at the Oreo 100th party in Toronto on March 6th but had to work, so this was my little celebration of a great cookie! When I returned to the arena I decided I wanted milk to dunk these awesome cookies into...but unfortunately the snack bar didn't have milk on the menu. So I enjoyed them the other way...layer by layer! Boy they were yummy! Happy 100th Birthday Oreo and thanks for another delicious variation of the classic Oreo cookie!

March is Nutrition Awareness Month ~ Resources + Giveaway

It requires you to plan balanced meals which provide your daily recommended intake of vitamins, minerals and nutrients, a shopping list and if you're a bargain hunter, match your list to sales, coupons and price matches; all staying within your budget. There are a number of services which provide menu planning for free and for a fee.  

Let's take a closer look at these:

• Eat Right Ontario offers a free online service with a wide variety of dietary options for your menu. Click here to start using the My Menu Planner right away.
• SOSCuisine.com offers both paid and free menu planning service that incorporates the sales and specials at the grocery stores in your area. The free service is for weeknights only and has limited modifying capabilities. The premium paid service is from $1.99 per week. Visit the site for complete details.
• CanadianLiving.com has a new, free online Meal Planner that will keep you on track and help you plan a week or a whole month of eating. 

However, if you prefer to plan your own menu, you can download this handy menu planning template to get you started. Here are some handy tips to keep meal planning simple:

• Make a grocery list and display it where everyone can see it and contribute
• Gather up your favourite recipes and dishes to make, ask for everyone's input
• Know what you have on hand in your pantry and what you'll need to buy
• Check flyers, coupons, etc for the specials to help keep your meals within budget
• Plan three meals and two snacks daily, keep it simple when you're busy (don't forget to drink lots of water, they recommend 8 glasses each day)
• Use up leftovers to save time making lunches and use time saving appliances like a slow cooker while you're working and come home to a cooked meal

Eat Right Ontario even has meal plans to prevent or manage type 2 diabetes specifically for women and for men.

Timothy's K-Cups Coffee Review and Giveaway

As many of you already know, Timothy's Coffee had a spectacular promotion to receive 96 FREE K-Cups back in December 2011. I was reluctant to order this freebie as I'm usually a Tim Horton's coffee drinker all the way! My household only consumes decaffeinated coffee, so half of the freebie was ideal for us to try a new flavour! I decided to take the plunge and step outside of the box for a change!

The Timothy's Medium Decaffeinated Colombian 100% Arabica Coffee was a lighter colour than I expected but it was very pleasant tasting. It had a light, smooth flavour without the bitter after taste that many coffees have. The taste was not bold, which worked out well for me and my family.

I was impressed with the coffee and would definitely consider buying it in the future. Timmy's has a run for my money now!

Each box of Decaf Colombian 24 k-cups retails for $17.45 online at Timothys.ca. It looks like the Perfectly Pumpkin flavour was a limited time offer.
